Sigrid Solbakk Raabe, or better known as Sigrid, is a 21 year old Norwegian singer and songwriter, signed to Island Records. Her journey to BBC’s Sound of 2018 started just last February when she released her debut single, ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’. A year has passed and Sigrid is grabbing the attention of music lovers and critics worldwide, earning her the title from the BBC.

Sigrid has beaten the likes of Khalid, Billie Eilish and ALMA upon others for the crown of BBC’s Sound of 2018. Previous winners include singers who have gone on to become household names such as Ellie Goulding and Adele, to name a few. Sigrid told the BBC, “It’s a huge honour” and Radio 1 DJ, Annie Mac, described Sigrid’s music as an, “absolute pleasure to play on the radio” as well as describing the Norwegian songstress herself, as “the perfect pop star”.

Sigrid’s latest single, ‘Strangers‘, has received constant airplay on two of the most popular radio stations in the UK – BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2, which had people hinting towards the accomplishment. As 2018 is just starting, Sigrid is set to become a bigger name within the industry, as she is set to tour in US & Canada in April, even selling out in some areas.
We are excited to hear more from Sigrid as the year progresses and with this wonderful news, it may not even be that long until we get the next single or maybe even her debut album. Whatever Sigrid has in store for 2018, we will be here patiently waiting.
