Take That announce UK and European Greatest Hits tour for 2019

Take That have confirmed a huge UK, Ireland and European tour for 2019 as part of their #TT30 celebrations.

The band – made up of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen – have been teasing their 30th anniversary celebrations throughout the week and earlier this morning they finally gave their loyal Thatters the news they’ve been waiting for.

Taking to Twitter, the band said: “The journey continues… #TT30”

“To celebrate 30 years as a band we reimagined some of our favourite songs, wrote a couple of new ones and we’ll be playing them live at our UK Arena and Stadium tour next year.”

Kicking off in Sheffield on April 15, the band will play numerous dates across Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin, London, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Southampton, Bristol, Norwich,  and Middlesbrough before finishing off in Huddersfield on June 4. They will be joined by Rick Astley on the UK leg.

Take That have also announced their new greatest hits album Odyssey, a 27-track album featuring reimagined versions of their best hits, three brand new tracks, and special guests.

Speaking about the album, Gary said: “Some have been reworked, but without spoiling what people loved about them in the first place. You’ve got to be respectful, but at the same time, you’ve got to let the ambition of doing something new and refreshed come through as well.”

The album will celebrate their journey through the years and will include soundbites from their life, building a historical narrative around the songs – the story of five Northern teenage lads, who went on to become one of the biggest boy bands of all time, before splitting up and reforming again nine years later with one of the most sensational music comebacks ever seen. “The story is, if you think about it” said Howard, “quite mad.” “We wanted to tell the tale of the band,”said Mark, “the history of what happened to us. If you only ever own one of them, this should be the definitive Take That record.”

If you pre-order a copy of Odyssey from Take That’s official webstore before 12pm on Tuesday (September 25) then you will gain access to their UK ticket pre-sale, which begins on Wednesday September 26 at 9:30am. Click here for more information.

General tickets for Take That’s tour go on sale next Friday (September 28) at 9:30am.

A reimagined version of ‘Pray’ is now available via all download and streaming services.
