The fictional band The Wonders from the 1996 Tom Hanks film, ‘That Thing You Do!’, have confirmed that they will be reuniting for the first time in twenty years for a virtual watch party, in aid of the MusiCares COVID- 19 Relief Fund.
All four members of the fictional band- Jonathan Schaech, Ethan Embry, Tom Everett and Steve Zahn- as well as co- star Liv Tyler, will take part in an online watch party via their official YouTube channel, providing live commentary on the film and a Q&A with fans.

The online benefit will also pay tribute to the late Adam Schlesinger who composed the film’s title theme- he passed away earlier this month on April 2nd as a result of the Coronavirus.

‘That Thing You Do!’ came out in 1996 and was written and directed by Hollywood legend Tom Hanks. It tells the story of a fictional band (The Wonders) who formed in 1964, a year after The Beatles conquered America, who after achieving a one hit wonder subsequently find themselves catapulted into the spotlight. The movie is said to be a portrayal of the many bands who tried their hand at success following the British Invasion of the American music scene.
The livestream will commence at 12am BST on Saturday the 18th April over on the band’s YouTube channel (link above).
