The third round of The FA Cup takes place this weekend and all of the matches will be delayed by one minute in order to air a very special Every Mind Matters video encouraging fans to take care of their mental health.
Released as a collaboration between Public Health England’s Every Mind Matters and The FA and Heads Together’s Heads Up campaign, the powerful one minute video is narrated by HRH The Duke of Cambridge as he emphasises the importance of looking after your own mental health, as well as that of the people around you.
It features a number of high profile footballers and managers including Frank Lampard, Harry Maguire, Alex Scott, Dele Alli, Jordan Pickford, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Son Heung-Min, Hamza Choudhury and Slaven Bilic.
The video will be played across stadiums, online and TV broadcasts, reaching millions of football fans in England. Whilst the video’s message is important for everyone, there is a hope that through football it will reach a number of men, as they are statistically less likely to seek help where their mental health is concerned.
As part of the Every Mind Matters campaign, you can complete a Mind Plan online which has been clinically assured by the NHS. It requires you to answer a few questions about how you are feeling, and in turn you will receive a personalised action plan which recommends a range of evidence-based self-care actions.
