Marvel Studios has finally released the first trailer for Captain Marvel and fans have gone crazy for it!
There has been a lot of anticipation for this since the end of Avengers: Infinity War. After Thanos snapped his fingers with the Infinity Gauntlet, Nick Fury made a distress call before dissolving into dust. Fans saw a glimpse of Captain Marvel’s trademark logo, driving them wild with speculation of whether she will be the saviour for the next Avengers film.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Brie Larson is the star of the first female superhero movie from Marvel and the face of what is said to be the most powerful superhero in the universe. This trailer shows how her character, ex-pilot Carol Danvers, gains superpowers after an accident and joins a team called Starforce.
The 1990s-set film also stars Samuel L Jackson in his well known role of Nick Fury (but younger) and Clark Gregg is returning as Agent Coulson. Larson will also run into Lee Pace’s Ronan – who we first met in Guardians of the Galaxy – and Jude Law also stars. Ben Mendelsohn plays the main villain, an alien called Talos who is planning to invade Earth.

However, this film is not an origin story, as Danvers/Captain Marvel will already have her powers. It will focus on Danvers time as a pilot for the US Air Force and how her powers develop throughout the film. But it will be interesting to see how her role ties into the second part of Avengers: Infinity War as the fans know that the Avengers need help after THAT cliffhanger.

Captain Marvel is due for release on 7th of March in Australia, and 8th of March in the UK and US.
