Television presenters Tim Dormer and Elissa Sursara have paid tribute to Australian wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin just a month out from their VIP trip to Australia Zoo, hosted by Bindi Irwin and her family, to celebrate the life and legacy of Steve on Steve Irwin Day.
The pair, who represent Australia Zoo as global ambassadors to the Wildlife Warriors Worldwide program, spent the day cozying up to joey koalas and feeding critically endangered bearcats before jamming with their pals from Justice Crew on the zoo grounds.
Tim Dormer, who won the 2013 series of Big Brother in Australia and later entered the Canadian Big Brother house, and Elissa Sursara, a celebrity naturalist and wildlife presenter with almost a quarter of a million followers, later attended the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in Brisbane, arriving together but leaving separately.
The glowing pair were sat together at the event alongside fellow ambassadors and I’m A Celebrity… contestant Jo Beth Taylor, and long-time Totally Wild TV presenter Stacey Thompson, known as Ranger Stacey. Today show host Lisa Wilkinson and husband Peter Fitzsimonds were also in attendance.
Speculation the pair attended the event as a date was put to rest when Dormer, who openly expressed his fluid sexuality on Big Brother, came out as gay for the first time with boyfriend Ash Toweel this week.
The ambassadors walked the khaki carpet in honor of Steve Irwin, and in support of Dancing with the Stars winner Bindi Irwin, 18, who now fronts the zoo as spokesperson.
