Cruel Youth Announce and Release New Music

Cruel Youth has had a successful time so far. Only a couple of months into their existence, they have released tons of new music. First, they gave us two beautiful, soulful songs (“Diamonds Days” and “Mr. Watson”) and then debuted two ´synthy remixes of the latter. They even filmed an accompanying video for the biggest hit out of the two, “Mr. Watson”, which was included by Spotify on their “Young, Wild and Free” playlist.

So, what’s next for Teddy Sinclair’s/Natalia Kills’ ambitious new pet project? More music, of course. After a lot of teasing on Twitter about being in the studio with her husband, Willy Moon, the singer saw her chance yesterday to announce some very exciting news.

Not only did she drop a brand new song called “Hatef*ck”, but she also revealed the name and release date of her long-awaited debut EP. Her latest work, titled “+30mg”, is coming out September 16th.

Until this day arrives though, you can listen to her brand new song on Spotify. “Hatef*ck” is everything you might expect from Cruel Youth after their last two songs and even more.

Sinclair and Moon seem to have found their style now and tap into it with ease. The song itself is pretty relaxed. There is no obvious highlight, and not even the chorus itself climaxes musically. Yet, “hatef*ck” stands out as being truly great. The production alone is perfect. The track starts with a 30 second musical intro which is captivating in itself. Simple notes guide the listener into the song. Then Sinclair starts singing, modulating her voice between low, seductive tones and higher, desperate sounding notes when appropriate. She talks about her messed-up relationship, how she should have left her man when she first saw him, and that she hates him for all the things he does to her. You can feel the pain in Sinclair’s voice with every word.

Combining the production with her singing style, the song just pulls you in. It is soulful, the chorus is catchy and the lyrics are haunting.
