Here at CelebMix, we love introducing you to new artists and tracks that need an immediate spot on your playlist. Today is no different, as we present to you 22-year-old SAINT WKND.
The Munich resident has built up an impressive following online after a series of bootlegs and official remixes for artists including Chet Faker, Saint Motel and Louis The Child. Now, it’s time for SAINT WKND to shine in his own right as he releases his debut single.
‘Golden’ features Australian indie group Hoodlem, and is the first single from SAINT WKND’s debut EP Golden Youth. The track is a hypnotic combination of trip hop and warm synths. Hoodlem’s vocals glide effortlessly over the track, evoking raw emotion throughout. ‘Golden’ is a promising debut offering from SAINT WKND, who displays a progressive development of production throughout.
Speaking of his inspiration behind the track, he explains: “I woke up at 2am and had an urgent feeling to make music. I stared writing and finished the song by 8am. Golden’s instrumental was done, but I wanted to add vocals to it. I knew about the indie group Hoodlem and luckily when I was on tour in Australia in 2016 I met them in Melbourne and we recorded the vocals in their home studio. It’s a very honest song and I hope people will enjoy it.”
‘Golden’ was recently released via cult dance label Nothing Else Matters. The label exploded onto the scene with 99 Souls’ monster hit ‘The Girl Is Mine’. Radio 1 stalwart Danny Howard, who is behind the label, said: “Everyday I’m discovering new tracks and extremely talented artists. Aside from supporting them on air and on the dancefloor, I’ve always wanted a way in which I can help even more people hear these incredible sounds.”
With over 25 million plays across his tracks on SoundCloud, Saint WKND doesn’t plan on slowing down his rapid ascent any time soon. It seems that he’s also is in a safe pair of hands with Nothing Else Matters. We can’t wait for what 2017 has in store for him!
