Emma Blackery has an exciting announcement for us all- she’s writing a book! Featuring a collection of essays and personal stories as well as advice, Emma describes ‘Feel Good 101’ as the book she would have liked to read when she was younger. Here is an excerpt from the book’s pre-order website:
‘Only you can take the steps you need to help yourself become the strong, independent, fearless person you dream of being. It took me a long time – and a lot of real lows, excruciating heartaches and countless mistakes – to get there. The sole purpose of this book’s existence is the hope that it may speed up that journey to happiness for you.’
Even though she previously had a negative opinion about books written by YouTubers, Emma had a change of heart when she saw things through the perspective of her nine year-old sister. In fact, Emma had her sister in mind when writing her book, wanting to give her advice about situations she’ll eventually encounter.
At the age of 25, Emma felt like she was at a stage in her life where she was ready to share all the lessons she’s learned so far. She insists that the book will be “as real as possible” and will feature stories she’s never told and mistakes she’s kept hidden. The concept for the book was partially inspired Carrie Fletcher’s ‘All I Know Now’, as Emma stated Carrie was “a wonderful source of encouragement” throughout the writing process.
The book will further elaborate on Emma’s YouTube series of the same name, which featured Emma discussing her experiences with issues such as depression, self-harm, and bullying, and giving useful advice for anyone struggling with similar problems.

Between the release of this book, her 5th EP coming out this spring, and regular uploading to three YouTube channels, 2017 is bound to be a busy year for Emma. We can’t wait to follow her on her journey and see what else she has in store!
‘Feel Good 101’ will be published on September 7th by Little, Brown and is available for pre-order right now.
