Tara Macri is a CelebMix favorite and with her latest single she’s bound to be yours. Tara’s song “Home” is a beautiful ballad about a loss that tugs at your heartstrings. We chatted with the singer about the meaning behind the song and how it was formulated.

-Tell us what you’ve been up to since we last spoke?
I have been doing a lot of writing, voice over work, playing shows, released the new song called “Home” and teamed up with an indie record label here in LA called 10 Count Records.
-Tell us about the new single, Home.
“Home” is a ballad with only piano, cello. Wanted to keep it simple because it’s a pretty honest song.
-What was your inspiration for Home?
I wrote the song for a friend who passed away unexpectedly and tragically. I wanted to let them somehow know that wherever they are, I will always hold them in my heart.
-Can you tell us the meaning behind the music video?
If you look closely you can see we put each sentence above a person as they crossed the street to make it look like it’s a thought they were having. It’s to represent their inner monologue and thoughts as they get on silently throughout their day. These are the thought and feelings that they have kept unsaid.
I feel like we have all experienced and will continue to experience loss in our lives, but my hope is that through song, the pain can soften a little more quickly and fonder memories can endure.
We also wanted to do a video and give back and we have been working with mental health organizations to help out in anyway we can.
-This song is very important since we need so much positivity now, did you expect the impact this song is having at the moment?
Yah we do I agree. When I wrote this song I didn’t expect to release it. It was something I needed to get out. Now that we have released it I really hope that the song helps someone who is going through a hard time see through the cloudy day. These are the things I would have said to my friend in hopes I could have saved him from himself.
-Anything else you’d love to tell your fans?
Mental illness is something people tend to shy away from talking about, so hopefully this will promote a dialogue that sometimes people too often remain silent on.
-What are your plans for after this?
I have been writing a lot and will have a new song coming out around summer time. Musically it’s really different from my other songs…I have been experimenting with some different sounds and it’s still pop but little different. Hard to explain so can’t wait for everyone to hear it!! As well booking my summer events so stay tuned to my social media for details.
