Since 2013, Julia Michaels has been penning hit after hit for some of music’s finest including Nick Jonas, Fifth Harmony, Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani, just to name a few. In case you weren’t aware, she even has writing credit on Ed Sheeran’s latest album Divide.
The creative mastermind behind our favorite tracks of the decade now has a chart-climbing hit of her own and a brand new music video to accompany it. On Wednesday, Michaels dropped the visual for her debut single “Issues,” which beautifully displays the hardships two people face in a relationship; however, their love remains strong and untampered.
“It really is all of the issues I deal with on a daily basis. I felt uncomfortable with someone else singing my life,” the 23-year-old revealed to Music Week as to why she chose to keep the song for herself. “It’s my life when I sing these words. It’s one thing to write it and another to emote it.”
Although, authenticity is far from a problem for Michaels. The public has positively responded and related to her intimate track. The music video plays no difference as fans quickly shared their love after its midnight release.

Artists who have worked with Michaels in the past such as Selena Gomez and Hailee Steinfeld have showed their support for the rising popstar as well, singing along to “Issues” in the following clips.
We have a feeling that 2017 is going to be a remarkable year for the songstress, who has also just been nominated for Best New Artist at the upcoming Radio Disney Music Awards.
