Lady Gaga’s highly anticipated single ‘Perfect Illusion’ has met worldwide release and it’s pleasing to know she’s taking a new musical direction.
From the electronic beginnings of The Fame, to the Jazz/Blues appreciation of Cheek to Cheek, Gaga proves herself to be a musician of magnificent proportions. She knows that musical growth comes in many forms: one of these forms being dabbling into other genre realms.
‘Perfect Illusion’ is an honest take on perhaps a seemingly perfect relationship. In reality, this relationship is just an illusion or for better words, a simple facade.
The 70’s/80’s influenced song is a modern “She Works Hard For The Money” anthem, but more towards the scale of love. Her vocals transcend into the workings of disco-rock heaven quite well. It’s no Donna Summer classic, but ‘Perfect Illusion’ serves as a perfect representation of Gaga’s growth as an artist. She’s not afraid to experiment, and she’s definitely not afraid to appreciate the many genres of the world.
After all, music is multi-dimensional. Hats off to a new artistic era!
