It’s almost time to get those summer playlists fired up but at CelebMix we have a sneaky feeling that your favourite songs this season may be yet to drop.
With several of the year’s hottest artists currently teasing new tracks online with enticing TikTok clips, there’s plenty of hype among music lovers across the internet.
CelebMix picks 12 songs we can’t wait to drop in the coming weeks and months.
Chappell Roan – ‘Subway’
The world can’t get enough of Chappell Roan at the moment and it’s easy to see why with the fun-loving pop star’s quirky lyrics and infectious hits. The singer debuted a new track called ‘Subway’ at Gov Ball last weekend and set the internet alight. A more laidback number than ‘Good Luck Babe’, the single sounds like a breezy summer hit and we need it, well, now.
Tyde Levi – unknown
The internet went into a bit of a hot flush on Tuesday night as what appeared to be a new Troye Sivan track played at the end of his Berlin show. Those with keen ears will have noted the vocals actually belong to the Australian’s brother Tyde. The 24-year-old is an artist in his own right with a more breezier sound than his sibling and his upcoming single sounds like it could be the singer at his dreamy best. Tyde confirmed online that the song would drop on June 21.
Alessi Rose – ‘Crush’
A highlight of her live set at St Pancras Old Church and when supporting Fletcher at the Eventim Apollo, CelebMix labelled Alessi Rose keeping ‘Crush’ in the vault as ‘criminal’. Thankfully, we don’t need to get authorities involved as the rising star is due to release the single along with her debut EP on July 3. The TikTok teaser of the tongue-in-cheek single has fans chomping at the bit.
Leah Kate – ‘What Girls Do’
Leah Kate is fast making a name for herself with her cut-throat pop hits. Fresh from a headline EU tour and dropping Super Over last year, she’s yet to release new music in 2024 but that seems bound to change imminently with her promotion of ‘What Girls Do’ on TikTok. From what we’ve heard so far, it’s a self-empowerment anthem served with a healthy dose of attitude.
Henry Moodie – ‘bad emotions’
King of the Gen Z emotional sucker-punch, Henry Moodie clearly has the recipe for a viral hit. He’s labelled ‘bad emotions’ as the hardest song he’s ever written and teasers of the track hint at another heart-on-his-sleeve effort with a ginormous chorus. It’s out June 21.
Dorian Electra – ‘WE INVENTED LOVE (feat. FROST CHILDREN)’
Debuted at their head-turning Primavera Sound set, Dorian Electra has their hands on a monster in ‘WE INVENTED LOVE’ alongside FROST CHILDREN. The track’s radio-ready electropop verses give way to a huge Skrillex-esque drop in the chorus. We’re ready when you are, Dorian.
CATTY – ‘I Wish I Gave You Hell’
Everything CATTY touches right now seems to turn to gold. Fresh from supporting Beth McCarthy on tour and preparing for a landmark Oslo Hackney debut, there’s a feeling that the Welsh star is riding the crest of a wave. Her next release is ‘I Wish I Give You Hell’ on June 14 and it’s sounding like a brilliantly menacing follow-up to ‘Healing Out of Spite.
Nieve Ella – ‘Sugarcoated’
Nieve Ella lays her insecurities bare on upcoming single ‘Sugarcoated’. An exposition of imposter syndrome in the industry, there’s a feeling the single could be one of her most special releases to date. The track, a feature of the 21-year-old’s live set, is already a firm fan favourite.
montykeates – ‘Easy’
There’s been plenty to get excited about montykeates’ first trio of releases but the TikTok star’s sound looks set to level up on his next single. There’s no date yet, but he’s now ‘ready to release’ upcoming single ‘Easy’. The fizzing snippet shared online certainly hints at an artist finding his own sound and a single to be blasted loud.
Mabel – ‘Female Intuition’
As teased in her festival sets this summer, Mabel samples Aaliyah’s ‘More Than A Woman’ on the unreleased ‘Female Intuition’. “I don’t think you’re ready,” the pop star teases on the track, which is set to be part of her hotly-anticipated third studio album.
lozeak – ‘ALPHA’
Confirmed for release on June 26, lozeak will follow the brilliant ‘Moist’ with ‘ALPHA’. From what we’ve heard so far, the upcoming single looks to see the star pick up from where she left off with easily quotable lyrics and a club-ready beat. It’s sounding hot.
Nina Nesbitt – ‘I’m Coming Home’
Nina Nesbitt will give fans the latest taste from her upcoming album in ‘I’m Coming Home’ on June 14. An ode to growing up in Scotland, the single sees the songwriter move from dreaming big as a youngster to returning home decades later. Snippets online sound like a cross between Sam Fender and Taylor Swift, which is a pretty perfect combination.
