This morning, the 18th of December at just after 9am UK time, The 1975 decided to surprise fans by dropping their music video for ‘UGH!’, without any promotion for it other than for the single itself.
‘UGH!’ is the third track on their second album ‘I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’ (no, we don’t remember that off by heart, what are you talking about) and the second single they’ve released ahead of the album release date set for 26th February 2016.
The video sees a compilation of different shots from their new staging which they’re currently using to tour the world with, and it looks absolutely stunning.
Much like the video for ‘Love Me’, it certainly strays away from The 1975’s original signature aesthetic of black and white and verging on indie grunge, throwing in a fluorescent mixture of colour that mashes with their new stylistic 80s pop sound fantastically.
Some fans were also pleased to see Matty Healy had a variation of trendy outfits throughout the video, one particularly riveting considering he was topless.
Me: I think I don't find Matty Healy that attractive anymore. *watched UGH video* you know what never-fucking-mind

Others have compared the colourful theme to that of Drake’s music video for Hotline Bling, Matty also resembling Drake with his care-free dancing. However some fans have commented that this is simply a coincidence and the video is a perfect representation of what it’s like watching the 1975 live.
ugh! video is so cute and matty's still a better dancer than me

Although this new theme is a change from their initial style, it sure does absolutely rock and fit the band perfectly. The 1975 produce the sort of music that spreads across many genres such as indie, pop and rock and can appeal to so many people.
