We all love Spider-Man. With Marvel’s flagship hero swinging into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in next year’s ‘Captain America: Civil War’, CelebMix looks at Spider-Man’s more literary roots.
Despite earning millions at the worldwide box office and keeping Spider-Man updated with an up-to-date rendition of the character, the Spider-Man franchise took a major hit when ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ didn’t get its sequel.
Now that Spidey has finally come home to Marvel, the new Spider-Man films with Tom Holland in the lead role, should provide fan boys and girls everywhere with enough enthusiasm. Especially seeing as the webbed vigilante will be teaming up with the likes of Captain America and Iron Man.
The three things that every Spider-Man fan would love to see on the silver screen are as follows:
1 – The High School Issue
There is more than just one Spider-Man story. We all know the one where he gets bitten by a spider and what happens to poor Uncle Ben. Those who have read the comics know that Peter Parker has been an adult for quite a few years in the primary Marvel timeline. Peter is a smart young man and his work as a high school teacher and scientist should be explored.
2 – Mary Jane Watson-Parker
Mary Jane Watson has been the girl next door for far too long in film and television. Please can we have them married already and MJ knowing Peter’s alter ego from the get go. The closest we have to this is the rather disappointing ‘Spider-Man 3.’ Being able to see their daughter Mayday a.k.a. Spider-Girl, on-screen, would also be a bonus!
3 – Spider-Verse
With the current trend in Marvel movies revolving around shared universes, it makes perfect sense to include the many different ‘Spider-Men ‘that we all know and love. Miles Morales, the Ultimate Spider-Man or Miguel O’Hara, the Spider-Man of 2099, would be welcomed by audiences. With female characters getting their fair share of action, why not Spider-Gwen too?
Although it is good to see Spidey given such a warm back to basics high-school reboot with Marvel, long term fans of the franchise are still pining for something, ‘a little different!’
‘Captain America: Civil War’ hits UK screens on April 29, 2016 with Spidey’s first solo movie being released in July of 2017.
