Death of a person, whether it is someone you know or a stranger is never an easy thing to accept. In Hollywood, the death of a celebrity is highlighted in an even bigger spotlight, as a lot of people are affected by it. Death of a beloved celebrity will always grip the hearts of their fans sending a ripple through social media. One minute they seem fine, and suddenly they are just gone. Whatever the reason for their death might be, it always feels like they were taken too soon from us. It’s very hard to believe that we won’t be able to enjoy their talent and experience their exciting performances anymore.
There have been a lot of celebrities that have left us abruptly and without any warning, but we are going to discuss the ones whose deaths have occurred due to the most shocking and surprising accidents.
Paul Walker
With so much success surrounding the Fast and Furious series, Paul Walker’s death caused a lot of sadness and shock. On November 30th, 2013, Paul and Roger Rodas left for Paul Walker’s charity Reach Out Worldwide for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, with Rodas behind the steering wheel of a Porsche Carrera GT. They reportedly crashed into a concrete lamp post and two trees in a 45mph speed zone on Hercules Street in Valencia, Santa Clarita, California. The car caught fire, and both Walker and Rodas died from trauma with their bodies burnt beyond recognition.
Tony Meehan
Founder member and drummer of the British band called the Drifters, which later evolved into the Shadows, Tony Meehan died of very surprising reason; falling down his stairs. His family claimed that it was due to a faulty staircase, but the issue was never confirmed. This makes us wonder how unpredictable life is, and such a minor thing like falling injuries can be grave and result in death. On 29th November 2005, BBC quoted that he died a day before as a result of head injuries following a fall down his main staircase at his London flat in Maida Vale. Aged 62, he was rushed to the nearest hospital where he took his last breaths.
Heath Ledger
Famously known as “The Joker” from the Batman: The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger died from an accidental prescription drug overdose in 2008. According to the police, he was found unconscious in his bed by his housekeeper, Teresa Solomon and his masseuse, Diana Wolozin. Wolozin performed CPR, which was unsuccessful in reviving him, and she later called Mary-Kate Olsen and 911 to inform them about his condition. At 3:36 pm on 22nd January 2008, approx. 30 minutes after Wolozin found Ledger unconscious, he was pronounced dead by paramedics.
Aaliyah
Aaliyah Dana Haughter was a famous American singer, actress, and model. On August 25, 2001, at 6:50 pm, Aaliyah left for the Opa-Locka Airport in Florida in an airplane owned by Skystream. Shortly after the take-off, about 200 feet from the end of the runway the plane crashed and exploded.
This was one of the saddest deaths in the Hollywood industry as Aaliyah, along with eight other video crew members, were instantly killed. It is reported that Aaliyah suffered from several head injuries and burns due to which she went in a state of shock. Even if she survived the initial crash, her recovery would have been near to impossible.
Natasha Richardson
You may recognize her as one of the actresses from The Parent Trap and Maid in Manhattan. Natasha Richardson, the wife of the famous Liam Neeson, passed away in 2009 after suffering from head injuries due to a skiing accident at the Mont Tremblant Resort.
At first, she ignored any help from the paramedics, but after suffering from a severe headache two hours later, she was rushed to a hospital. However, she died two days later from epidural hematoma or internal bleeding.
