With the first week of 2018 almost over we are looking at who we would love to see performing in the prestigious Radio 1 Live Lounge this year. The radio station asked listeners who they would like to see perform over the next 12 months earlier this month and here we bring you our top 5 picks for which country music acts we would like to see make their Live Lounge debuts.

Who would you like to hear in the Live Lounge in 2018? ???

    — BBC Radio 1 (@BBCR1) January 2, 2018

    1: Shania Twain

After a 15-year musical hiatus country music legend Shania Twain returned with her massive number 1 comeback album ‘Now’ last year. Seeing Twain in the Live Lounge would make for something truly spectacular and considering she will be in the UK this October for her tour it makes sense to get the legendary singer into Radio 1 for her debut Live Lounge performance.

    2: Ward Thomas

Radio 2 are huge supporters of the UK record breaking country music duo Ward Thomas and back in 2016 as their sophomore LP ‘Cartwheels’ topped the Official Album Chart, their massive hit single ‘Guilty Flowers’ was played on Radio 1. Their harmonies would make for a sensational Live Lounge.

    3: Lady Antebellum

US country trio Lady Antebellum are one of the most successful bands in the world with multiple Grammy awards to their name and chart records, but despite having huge UK success with album sales and tours they have never performed in the Radio 1 Live Lounge. This needs to change in 2018.

    4: The Shires

The Shires are another exciting British country music duo and over the past few years they have made and broken countless UK chart records and have performed a number of live sessions on Radio 2 but they have never performed in the Radio 1 Live Lounge. Listeners would love to hear them in there this year.

    5: Sarah Darling

Sarah Darling is one of the fastest rising country stars in the world at the moment and the US sensation will be touring Britain later this year making it the perfect time to get her into the Live Lounge. Her honey sweet vocals would sound incredible.
