Creative writing, just like every other art, is timeless. This is why those who offer book writing services usually charge a great deal to sell the rights of their content to clients. Even after the death of a writer, creative content remains popular and relevant to literature. In fact, some writers only became popular after their deaths.

5 Popular Writers Who Became Famous After Their Deaths

    Emily Dickinson

Emily is literally the mother of American poetry. She spent most of her life in Massachusetts where she wrote poetic pieces day after day. The facts of her life aren’t clear but her creations are now on the reading list of high school students in America. When she was alive, she couldn’t get any publisher to publish her work. It wasn’t until after Emily died that she became famous. Emily Dickinson was born in 1830 and died in 1886 of Bright’s disease.

    Howard Phillips Lovecraft

You can’t make a list of the best fantasy and fiction writers in the world without including Howard Phillips Lovecraft. When Lovecraft was alive, he didn’t get to enjoy half as much fame he got when he died. Few people read his books when he was alive but these books went viral after his death. Lovecraft got his inspiration from another legendary writer, Edgar Allen Poe. Poe was also a writer who became popular after death. Lovecraft was born in 1890 and died of cancer in 1937.

    William Blake

During his time, his contemporaries said he was mad. However, after his death, he became known as one of the fathers of poetry. Blake said that he saw God stick his head out of a window when he was four years old. He reportedly had subsequent visions that were just like this. Eventually, he started expressing what he saw in his visions creatively in poetry. Living in a time when women had limited rights, Blake was one of the earliest male advocates of women liberation. Even if Blake died as a poor man in obscurity, he was made famous by a group of fans known as “the Ancients.” Born in 1757, Blake died “dancing and singing” in 1827.

    Herman Melville

Melville’s classical work, Moby-Dick, is one of the most popular novels of all time. However, it wasn’t popular for more than 50 years after it was written. Another one of his novels, Typee, was made up of fictionalized accounts of his voyages. This was followed by the novel, Omoo. Both novels were a success but they did not bring Melville as much fame as Moby-Dick. This fame came after Melville died just like another novel, Billy Budd. Melville remains a key figure in American Romanticism till this day. He was born in 1819 and he died of cardiovascular disease in 1891.

    Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855)

Kierkegaard is the popularly known as a pioneer of modern existentialism. While he wasn’t the one who invented the concept, he explored many parts of it. Kierkegaard was a graduate of philosophy, theology, and literature. When he was in younger, his dream was to become a pastor and get married to the love of his life. After his father’s death, he broke off his engagement and used his inheritance to pursue a career as a writer. Even if Kierkegaard was mocked most of his life, he became one of the most famous writers in history after he died. Born in 1813, Kierkegaard died in 1855. He collapsed on the road and was taken the hospital where he was declared dead.

These writers and more will never be forgotten for their contributions to literature. They may not have been famous in life but they became famous in death. If you offer ewriting service to clients, you can get inspired by reading the publications of these legends and learning about their lives.
