This week marks CelebMix’s fifth birthday so we’ve decided to celebrate by dedicating articles to some of our favourite celebrities – this one is all about Dua Lipa and her live performances.
Dua Lipa has grown so much in confidence as an artist over the years, and with that, her performances have become even more incredible. Here are five of our all time favourites!
‘New Rules’ at the BRIT Awards 2018
Channelling the aesthetic of the iconic ‘New Rules’ music video, Dua’s performance at the BRIT Awards 2018 saw her joined by tens of dancers in pastel coloured outfits. As massive fans of the original video, we love that this performance perfectly pays homage to it. It may not be regarded as one of her best performances but the reason why it’s one of our favourites is because it was one of the first performances of hers that we saw with such a big staging and it’s a reminder of how much she has developed as a performer over the years since then.
Dua Lipa and friends sing ‘IDGAF’ for Radio 1’s Live Lounge
Putting together the world’s coolest girlband, Dua was joined by four of her pals for a performance of ‘IDGAF’ during a Radio 1 Live Lounge session in 2018. Teaming up with fellow music queens Zara Larsson, MØ, ALMA and Charli XCX, we love this this slick performance and can only hope that one day the five of them will reunite for a real collaboration which will certainly break the internet.
‘Don’t Start Now’ at the MTV EMAs 2019
Dua wowed the world with a futuristic performance of ‘Don’t Start Now’ at the 2019 MTV Awards. Surrounded by hundreds of dancers radiating sunny vibes in their yellow costumes, there’s no doubt that this is one of Dua’s most confident and fierce performances to date. The choreography is so on point, making it one of the standout performances of the evening.
‘Masseduction’ / ‘One Kiss’ at the GRAMMYs 2019
In the same year that she picked up a GRAMMY for Best New Artist, Dua also took to the stage by teaming up with St. Vincent for a sizzling performance of ‘Masseduction’ / ‘One Kiss’. The performance is dark, sexy and utterly captivating, and there’s no doubt that the pair absolutely slayed their moment.
‘Break My Heart’ on The Tonight Show At Home Edition
The lockdown period has meant that traditional live performances have been halted. Thankfully, at-home performances have become a growing trend, meaning that a) we’ve still been able to enjoy our music fix and b) our favourite pop stars have been able to push their creative boundaries. Dua’s at home performance of ‘Break My Heart’ on The Tonight Show is nothing short of phenomenal, featuring hypnotic green screen backgrounds. Even her band and dancers make an appearance! We love the feel-good vibe of the performance and how striking it looks, considering it’s been filmed from her London flat.
