5 Seconds of Summer have always taken a unique approach to bonding with their fans and promoting their music, but this one might be the coolest yet.
5SOS new “Sounds Good Feels Good” album artwork features some graffiti images. The lyric video for their single “She’s Kinda Hot” features their lyrics painted on brick walls alongside cartoon images. The single artwork also features a spray painted image of a cheerleader with an animal head, and was announced by a graffiti artist spray painting the picture on a brick wall during a livestream.
Over the past few days, spray painted images with the boys’ new safety pin logo have been appearing in different parts of the world. First Sydney, then Dublin, and now Amsterdam have had sightings of these designs. The band took to Twitter and Instagram today to share the meaning behind the art:
“We wanted to show you what the New Broken Scene means to us, so we’re taking it around the world. We’ve created characters from The New Broken Scene for every track on the album, because each song represents something special to us.”
The band has picked street artists to put up the characters in different cities around the world. Leading up to the album release, the band will be releasing the locations of the designs for their fans to find. Once found, they want their fans to take pictures with the art and post them online. As the fans find the art, the band will then share a little bit about the song that corresponds to that character via Blippar.
The 5 Seconds of Summer boys are always going above and beyond for their fans. This announcement comes just after their previous one, announcing the New Broken Scene event that will happen in Atlanta, GA on Halloween. The album “Sounds Good Feels Good” will be released on October 23rd worldwide and is available right now for pre-order on iTunes.
