To celebrate CelebMix’s fifth anniversary, we have taken a closer look at some of our favourite celebrities, and the different aspects that we love about them.
For this article, we have decided to share with you five Britney Spears moments that have made us cry!
1. Britney breaks down when reflecting on her breakup with Justin Timberlake during PrimeTime interview (2003)
Britney was being interviewed by Diane Swayer for a special appearance on PrimeTime in 2003, when she was asked about the events that she had experienced in the past year – including her breakup to Justin Timberlake – and how this had been played out to the public.
Britney tried to compose herself as best as she could while she attempted to provide an answer, but she ultimately broke down in tears and asked for the interview to be stopped for a second. If there was any moment we wanted to give Britney a hug, it was this.
2. Britney crying about the paparazzi during Deadline interview (2006)
This wasn’t the first sad interview to come out of her career. A few years later in 2006, Britney was interviewed by Matt Lauer for Dateline and was poised with the tough question on what it would take for the paparazzi to leave her alone.
Britney got very emotional after this question was asked, as she responded that it was one of her ‘biggest wishes’, and that everyone is entitled to privacy and respect.
However, she later stated that she continues to believe that she is here for a reason, and that the birth of her first son, Sean Preston Federline, has ‘blessed her’. We have to feel for Britney every time we watch this.
3. Britney opens up on feeling like a ‘prisoner’ in “For the Record” (2008)
Another heartbreaking moment was when Britney got brutally honest in her 2008 documentary, “For the Record”, which focused on her return to the spotlight following a much-publicised breakdown.
Britney spoke about the conservatorship that been placed under earlier that year, revealing that she did not want to feel like a prisoner and wanted to have freedom just like many other people did, while people around her do not listen to what she has to say. It’s here when she broke down and admitted that she felt ‘sad’ talking about this.
Many fans have resonated with this particular clip over the years, and so many regard it as a particularly upsetting moment for Britney – especially given the fact that she is still under the conservatorship today. However, fans have continued to remain positive for Britney in the hope that one day, she will gain more freedom.
4. This heartbreaking performance of “Everytime” (2004)
In 2004, Britney gave a very emotional performance of “Everytime” during the Miami date of “The Onyx Hotel” Tour, which was broadcast on US network Showtime.
Before the performance began, Britney gave a speech about the press coverage of her personal life, and despite all the trials and tribulations she has faced, she believes it has made her into who she is today.
During the performance of the track, you can feel the pain and emotion throughout Britney’s voice as she delivers her rendition. It really breaks our hearts as we watch this.
5. Britney crying on the opening night of The Circus Starring Britney Spears (2009)
In 2009, Britney embarked on The Circus Starring Britney Spears – her first world tour since 2004. And she got very emotional during the opening night of the show in New Orleans.
Britney was photographed breaking down in tears as she made her way onto the stage, as she was reportedly overwhelmed with the support from the fans in the audience, who were cheering and screaming her name. After all that she’s been through, this is just what she needed, and it makes us well up too!
