If you haven’t seen the hit show Once Upon A Time you should really get watching this fairy tale twist programme featuring the beloved tales of Snow White, Rumplestiltskin, The evil queen and many more including disneys Anna and Elsa from Frozen and Zelena from The Wizard Of Oz or, some of you may know her as Elphaba from the musical Wicked, you should really, really check it out. Not only is it an amazing TV show, the cast are gorgeous too- take Colin O’Donoughue who plays Captain Hook for example.
Season four of Once Upon A Time ended with Emma Swan giving herself to the darkness in order to save her loved ones and Storybrooke, and gosh, it was a tear jerker. I don’t know about you but I look Captain Swan (Hook and Emma), I think that they’re such a realistic couple; if you forget the fact Hook is a pirate turned good because of love and Emma is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, and also happens to have the strongest type of magic possible- light magic. But, as we saw in the series finale, Emma gave herself to the darkness.
Emma is now the dark one and this can bring many good moments for Captain Swan but in my option many more bad. Can Hook bring Emma back from the darkness or will he slip back into it now his girlfriend is ‘evil’? Will Emma, as the dark one, still like Hook or will power be more important than love, we’ve seen that sometimes the darkness can overshadow love and I hope we don’t see that with Emma. Emma brings so much joy to the residents of Storybrooke, being the saviour and the sherif brings you lots of respect and with that comes love. Emma has quickly turned into a town treasure and everyone loves her, even Regina, the evil queen who started off trying to ensure Emma left Storybrooke. Although, Emma and Regina don’t always see eye to eye we can all tell that there is lots of love between them. Ultimately Emma’s son Henry, her parents, newborn brother Neal and Hook are going to be effected by this jaw dropping change but will there be any good in this change?
Another question is, with Mr Gold in a comma, who will be there to support the dark one? As far as we are aware, there is nobody as dark in Storybrooke who could help Emma contain her new powers. Or is there?
Executive producers of the show, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, hinted alongside this picture saying “If you’re going to be the Dark One, gotta learn from the best,” this can only mean one thing. Mr Gold/Rumple is back in action, but how can that be?
Robert Carlyle, who plays Rumple/Mr Gold, insisted at comic-con that there is a significant difference between the two, saying, “Rumple’s not in a coma. Gold’s in a coma,” and later saying, “Gold’s got a white heart, Rumple doesn’t. It’s a different thing.”.
What does this mean and how can this happen? Will it bring good or bad? Will there be heartbreak for Hook? Will Henry forget about the light in his mother? But ultimately, what will happen when the dark swan leaves the nest?
