Touch of Sparkle (a campaign run by Adam Lambert fans) recently reached ANOTHER milestone! They donated 2,000 care packs to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in the UK. All of this is thanks to the founder of Touch of Sparkle, Melanie Hersey, and the help of the campaign’s supporters!
Touch of Sparkle’s main focus is to produce care packs for cancer patients at Oncology, but this time they donated 50 care packs for boys and girls at the Teenage Emergency Department too. These packs provide teens overnight essentials, snacks, and distractions for teenagers who are admitted to hospital in an emergency.
Below are of some of the many items that were donated:
A box of underwear for teenage patients was also donated along with some sanitary towels for the department’s new Red Box scheme, because sanitary products are not funded by the department itself unfortunately. Batches of care packs are also produced for other departments as part of special projects at the request of the hospital
Care packs usually include:
- Practical items (bed socks, tissues, sweets, herbal tea for anti-sickness)
- Distractions (puzzle book, notebook, pen, earphones, playing cards)
- Pamper items (nail varnish, moisturizer, lip balm)
This year, Touch of Sparkle has been very lucky to receive generous grants from the Greggs Foundation, 1StopCommunity’s Carriers for Causes, CALA Homes, and The Pink Ribbon Foundation, as well as collaborating with charity friends. The main goal of this campaign is spread a little care and humanity and try to lighten the load for patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery for cancer.

A little more about Touch of Sparkle: Touch of Sparkle helps provide care packs to male and female cancer patients, including special batches for the children’s ward as well as emergency overnight packs to parents of children staying overnight at the Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
