Rumour has it Rebel Wilson has been cast to play Adele in a biopic. However, Adele has other ideas.
UK tabloid The Daily Star were first to claim that Rebel had taken the role as the multi-award winning songstress in order to prove that she can be “a serious actress”.
Serious actress? We love Rebel in movies such as Pitch Perfect and Bridesmaids, she is a stand-up comedienne after all! These reports from a seemingly fake source, could have stemmed from Rebel claiming she has previously been mistaken for Adele in an interview on Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 show?
“I’ve heard there are rumours that Rebel Wilson will be playing me in a movie – let’s see if that turns out to be true,” Adele reportedly told the audience at London’s O2 Arena, according to MTV UK.
Adele, who has just completed the UK segment of her 102 show tour often engages in small talk with her fans during her concerts, however during her set at London’s O2 arena the “Hello” singer had some pretty candid comments about the fictitious news of a biopic about her:
“They need my f***ing permission.. Just because I’m plus-sized doesn’t mean she’s playing me.”
Even without Adele, 2016 appears to becoming a highly successful year for Rebel. She is currently filming “Pitch Perfect 3” , which we’re all VERY excited about, whilst her new movie “How To Be Single” is in cinemas now (We think at least one scene of the film should involve lying in bed with a tub of Ben and Jerry’s, listening to Adele, whilst sobbing over non-existent exes). She is also set to share the big screen with the likes of Cara Delevingne in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie which will be ready for release this summer!
The Oscar-winning singer has displayed her humble and down-to-earth persona throughout her tour. This is just the latest of news to break from her shows where she has dedicated a song to grime artist “Stormzy”, confessed to having a beard named Larry and bragged about her rather large rear-end whilst attempting to twerk – Kim Kardashian better watch out!
Unfortunately, not all news from Adele’s tour is positive nor weirdly amusing. Despite Adele Laurie Blue Adkins MBE only bouncing back from a 3 year hiatus with her record-breaking single “Hello” in November 2015, she has confirmed she will be disappearing for “a few years” following the completion of her 102 show tour. cries
During her last date at London’s O2 arena, 5th April 2016, she sobbed: “I’m a bit emotional because I’m worried I’ll never play here again, only because I’m disappearing for another few years and I’m worried when I come back you’ll be like ‘f*** off’”
The legend said her break between albums 21 and 25 allowed her to bond with her now 3 year old son, Angelo whom she shares with boyfriend Simon Konecki. It is reported she will take a further 5 years out of the limelight. Despite not confirming the time scale, Adele shared that the break is to spend time with her son, nicknamed “peanut” and live her life so she can write songs she believes in, and that her fans can relate to.
Adele, we will miss you, but you shouldn’t fear, we will be ready to say “Hello” again in another 5 years. In the words of James Corden, you need to realise you’re ADELE!
In the mean time, we will have to watch all Adele’s performances and interviews on repeat, starting with her incredible “reggae” rendition of “Hello” with Jimmy Fallon:
