Alongside the release of their sophomore album Past Lives yesterday (September 28), Against The Current also treated fans to the music video for ‘Voices’.
Directed by Joe DeSantis, the visual was premiered by Nylon and sees the band battling against their inner demons. Throughout the video, frontwoman Chrissy Costanza captures her reflection in mirrors situated in an old mansion whilst she also dances around her fellow bandmates Dan Gow and Will Ferri.
Speaking about the visual concept, Chrissy told Nylon: “For the music video we really wanted to strip back the intense video production in favor of being more raw and letting mood and aesthetic take over.”

‘Voices’ is taken from Against The Current’s newly released album Past Lives. The 11-track record, which includes the previously released ‘Strangers Again’ and ‘Almost Forgot’, is a relatable offering from the band which explores many themes such as battling your inner demons, vulnerability, and moving on from friendships and relationships.
In our recent interview with Chrissy, she spoke about what she hopes people will take away from Past Lives. “I think, ultimately, my goal for this album was to stop worrying about what would happen to me and start thinking about how I was reacting to it, how it was making me feel and what I was doing about it,” she said.
“The world is going to happen and it’s going to suck sometimes, it’s going to be awful, but I think what you do about it and how you react to it and how you let it make you feel is really up to you. That’s what I want people to take away from it. The power is still in your hands until you let someone take it away from you.”
