One Direction has released yet another track, Perfect from their incoming album Made In The A.M. and fans can’t get enough of it. The first few lyrics ironically start off with listing some relationship expectations that they might not be able to meet, then progress into convincing the listener that they, in fact, are perfect for each other. Cue hearts around the world melting.
But before the dust had settled, Airspoken once again caught the internet off guard with yet another astounding cover. Assuming we’d recovered from that Justin Bieber mashup cover a little over a month ago. (We haven’t.)
The four took a risky, stripped down approach to the song, and made it work.
Eli Mayfield’s voice makes the listener feel as warm as the fire and candles behind them. Justin Bernardez’s buttery voice cuts through, providing the strong vocals needed for the chorus. Anthony Vazquez’s higher voice gives them the softness needed of an acoustic cover, reminiscent to that of Kellin Quinn in Sleeping With Sirens’ acoustic EP, If You Were a Movie, This Would Be Your Soundtrack. A few seconds into the two minute mark, he sneaks in a few lyrics from a Taylor Swift song, Style. Last but not least, Angel Torres is a consistent force to be reckoned with, with his smooth, versatile vocals ending the cover with power.
After hearing them blend their unique voices into hypnotizing harmonies, it’s safe to say that this cover is one that’ll be on repeat!
