American singer-songwriter AJ Mitchell is kicking off his 2024 in style with a brand new single called ‘Foolish’.
Produced and co-written with frequent collaborator Kid Culture, ‘Foolish’ is a vulnerable offering from AJ which sees him wondering aloud whether he engaged in poor decision making with a previous love interest. Laced with a pulsating, electric melody, the track comes accompanied by a compelling visual which sees AJ wandering through water and wilderness in search for answers to his emotional conundrum.
Speaking about the track, AJ said: “I wrote ‘Foolish’ in the midst of being in a relationship that I knew wasn’t good for me. It’s a conversation with myself- I was aware of the fact that the relationship would do me more harm than good, but the feelings were overpowering. ‘Foolish’ is about giving in to things that feel good even if you know they’re ultimately going to end in heartbreak. It’s human.”
‘Foolish’ is taken from AJ’s forthcoming sophomore album As Far As The Eye Can See, which is due for release on May 3 via Epic Records/Vol 1. Records. The track is at the centre of the inspiration for the coming-of-age album, with AJ stating that after knowingly dating someone that wasn’t good for him, he felt compelled to, “Go ‘as far as the eye can see,’ where there’s nothing blocking my vision, where I’m free to create.”
This is just the beginning for AJ Mitchell, with more news to be announced soon so keep your eyes peeled!
