It all started with a beat. A Latin beat, to be exact. Then a whispered “Low key, low key, you should really get to know me” joins in and we knew we were hooked right from the beginning.
The track we are talking about is titled “Low Key” and serves as the official launch of the solo career of Ally Brooke. Ally, who used to be a part of the highly successful girl group Fifth Harmony, is now determined to conquer the charts on her own. With cute bops like these, she might be able to do so very easily.
“Low Key” is a mid-tempo bop, filled with Latin-infused melodies and a smooth guest verse by Tyga. The track is very easy on the ears and so addictive you might not be able to get it out of your head (or stop yourself from listening to it for quite some time). The perfect release to unfreeze ourselves during this brutal winter.
Ally told Billboard about the track that “it feels like me, and that is what matters”. “People never really got to see the true me,” the singer continued in a press release about this new chapter. “Now just being able to have my own freedom of being an artist is the most incredible feeling in the world.” About the involvement with Tyga, she explained in the interview with Billboard that it all happened thanks to her new label, Atlantic. “They sent me the record with him on it, and I was blown away. He freaking annihilated that song in the best way possible.”
In 3 minutes and 21 seconds, Ally Brooke has mastered a debut single that sounds so secure of herself, of her sound and of her own personality that we almost completely forget that this is only the beginning for the young artist. And it gets us quite excited for what is to come.
“Low Key” was co-written by star songwriters John Ryan (Maroon 5, Niall Horan), Teddy Geiger (Shawn Mendes) and Julian Bunetta (Harry Styles, OneDirection). It is taken from Ally’s debut album, set for a release later this year.
