The most shocking celebrity news has broken today and unfortunately it is not good news.
It has been reported that Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from husband and fellow movie star Brad Pitt after just two years of marriage.
The couple met in 2004 on the set of the Mr and Mrs movie and began dating before marrying in August of 2014. They have six children together.
TMZ has reported that Jolie is asking for full physical custody of their children in papers filed on Monday citing irreconcilable differences.
The shock divorce will be Angelina’s third after she split from previous husbands; Johnny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. While it will be Pitt’s second after his divorce from F.R.I.E.N.D.S star Jennifer Aniston in 2005.
Angelina Jolie, who is being represented by Laura Wasser, is not seeking any spousal support in the divorce.
Lawyer Wasser most recently represented Johnny Depp in his very public divorce from Amber Heard.
In the official papers Jolie has listed the separation date as September 15, 2016, just last Thursday.
The formerly loved up couple had not been seen together in months and were last photographed at an event together in November of last year while promoting their movie By the Sea, which ironically told the story of an unhappily married couple.
Angelina directed and starred in the film alongside Brad, and confessed it was difficult to shoot at times. Saying: “It was our way of testing ourselves. We knew that if we could get through this, we’d come out even stronger and happier. And we did. We’ve always liked putting ourselves through challenges, even though it was maybe a little more dangerous for us as a couple.”
She also added: “I don’t think we want to go through it again though.”
