Newcastle born presenting duo Ant and Dec have been honoured with OBE’s in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
The duo both 40, first appeared on our screens way back in 1993 as part of Byker Grove and over the past two decades the proud Geordie’s have gone on to become Britain’s best loved and most successful presenters.
Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were awarded their OBE’s for their incredible services to entertainment and broadcasting.
But not only are the boys TV favourites they are also extremely charitable, and regularly support Prince’s Trust who they are patrons of, along with lots of other worthy causes.
Despite their incredible success over the past twenty-odd years they are still very humble and down to earth and seemed stunned by their OBE’s.
Taking to Twitter and instagram to share their gratitude and shock over their honour the Newcastle lads tweeted:
“We are thrilled, honoured and humbled to receive OBE’s in Her Majesty’s Birthday Honours. Not to mention very shocked!! #BirthdayHonours” (sic).
“We LOVE what we do and have since we started aged 13 so to receive this for services to broadcasting and entertainment is a HUGE honour…” (sic).
“We are just 2 lads proud to come from the west end of Newcastle. We hope us receiving this inspires young people that dreams are possible” (sic).
“A huge thank you to all of you who have shown us love and support. We will be eternally grateful. Cheers! A&D” (sic).
Celeb Mix would like to send their congratulations to Ant and Dec, who thoroughly deserve their OBE’s. Let’s hope they will be Knighted soon.
