The acclaimed anthology series American Horror Story is officially rolling into its 13th season with a high-voltage cast reveal. Shared on Halloween via a video post from creator Ryan Murphy, the announcement confirmed Ariana Grande—making her first appearance in the franchise—alongside returning stalwarts including Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Leslie Grossman.

The teaser video sets the tone with Vera Lynn’s “I’ll Be Seeing You” playing beneath cast names flashing on screen, culminating in Emma Roberts’ classic line from the Coven season: “Surprise, bitch. I bet you thought you’d seen the last of me.” The Halloween timing of the announcement doubles as a hint: the season is slated to premiere on Halloween 2026.

Ariana Grande’s inclusion marks a reunion with Ryan Murphy and co-creator Brad Falchuk after her role in their horror-comedy series Scream Queens. Meanwhile, Lange’s return is especially striking as she had previously publicly stated she would not return to the franchise. The announcement of her inclusion sent fans into a social media frenzy, celebrating the long-awaited return of their favorite star to the screen.

This season’s heavy-hitter cast has sparked speculation that Season 13 may revisit past storylines—particularly Season 3’s Coven or Season 8’s crossover instalment Apocalypse. The franchise has a history of reviving characters and arcs in unexpected ways. While plot details remain under wraps, the scale of the casting suggests a major chapter for the FX anthology. The previous season, Delicate, wrapped in April 2024 after a September debut.

For now, fans have reason to sharpen their senses. The next installment of American Horror Story promises to be chilling, stylish, and loaded with familiar faces—and new ones.
