What else should I know about Eleni Foureira?

Eleni Foureira is an established Greek singer who began her career in the girl group Mystique back in 2007. The three-piece also included Alkmini Chatzigianni and Maria Makri and broke up in 2009. They did manage to achieve success, with their song “Min kaneis pos de thymasai”, which featured Greek hip-hop group NEVMA. After the group parted ways, Eleni Foureira signed a solo contract with Universal Music Greece.

Before releasing her solo album, Eleni Foureira took part in the charity TV show, Just The Two Of Us; she was partnered with Panagiotis Petrakis and went on to win. She dropped her debut self-titled album, not long after. She’s had an incredible career to date, she has released three more albums, two of which was released under Minos EMI, which both charted in the top 10 of the Greek Charts, and her latest album “Vasillissa” was released under Panik Records and made the top 20. She’s also managed to chart through many of her singles, including getting a number one due to a collaboration with J Balvin in 2014, titled “Tranquila” which was a solo hit for him before Eleni Foureira came onto the song, allowing the song to reach number one a second time in Greece, after the release of their collaboration.

She played Sofia in the musical production Barbella: the 80’s Musical alongside other Eurovision Stars, Ivi Adamou (2012) and Katy Garbi (1993) for 80 shows from November 2015 – March 2016. In 2017 she became a judge on the third season of the Greek version of So You Think You Can Dance, before dropping her fourth studio album.

As for Eurovision, Eleni Foureira has had a lengthy competitive spirit with the show. She’s attempted to represent Greece a number of times. In 2010, she competed in the Greek national final where she was featured on Manos Pyrovolakis’ song “Kivotos tou Noe”; they came second, behind Giorgos Alkaios & Friends. She appeared as a guest on the national final in 2013; and, considered attempting to represent Greece again in 2015. The following year, 2016, she tried again but was rejected by the broadcaster. This also happened in 2017.

After trying for so long to represent Greece, Eleni Foureira was offered to represent Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, to which she accepted. She will be singing “Fuego”, a song that was written by Alex P, who has written songs for the likes of Anna Vissi, Elena Paparizou, Arash, Ivi Adamou, and Margaret. He has written hit songs “Gigolo” and “Mambo!” by Elena Paparizou, Eurovision song “Always” by Aysel & Arash (2009, they came third in the Grand Final), Eurovision song “La La Love” by Ivi Adamou (2012, came 16th in the Grand Final), “I Like How It Feels” by Enrique Iglesias, “Whip It” by Nicki Minaj, “Boys Will Be Boys” by Paulina Rubio, and “Live It Up” by Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull. Can Eleni Foureira win the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with this incredible song by this awesome songwriter? Find out how she does in the first Semi-Final on 8 May 2018, and watch the Grand Final on 12 May 2018 – will she get through?
