The singer graduated from Tallinn French School in 2011, and later from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2016 with a master’s degree in classical singing.
In 2009, whilst studying, Elina auditioned for the third season of Eesti otsib superstaari, however, failed to make it past the preliminary rounds. Once again, in the final, Elina topped both the jury and televote, gaining a place in the Superfinal of the contest, where only the public could vote. She stormed to victory with 70% of the public vote and won the honour of representing her country at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.
