What else should I know about Joci Pápai?

József “Joci” Pápai is a Hungarian singer and rapper of Romani descent. Music played a big part in his life growing up as his father was the leader of a gypsy orchestra. Joci started playing guitar when he was four years old which led to him wanting to pursue a career in music.

His career began in 2005 when he participated in the second season of Megasztár. He was eliminated during the consolation rounds, however, managed to land himself a record deal.  His debut single ‘Ne nézz így rám’ was released in 2006 and was a big success for the singer. He has since released several songs, including four which have been collaborations with rapper Majka.

In addition to this, Joci entered A Dal 2017 (Hungary’s national selection to choose a representative for Eurovision). He won the competition with the song ‘Origo’ and will therefore represent Hungary at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv later this month.
