Electropop’s pioneering youngster Au/Ra is back with the bubbling ‘Ideas’.
“Don’t put ideas in my head” the 17-year-old clicks to herself over a pulsing chorus. A trademark dark take on radio-ready pop flicks, Au/Ra continues her rise as one to watch after 2018’s X Games EP and a string of viral singles, including Camelphat feature ‘Panic Room’.
“Ideas is about trying to protect yourself from false expectations,” Au/Ra explains. “I very often build up these fantasies of how I’d like things to happen – and inevitably end up being disappointed when things don’t turn out that way. So really, this song is a warning to myself! I’m really looking forward to seeing and hearing how listeners interpret the song.”
Debuted on the singer’s headline tour last year, ‘Ideas’ marks the Au/Ra’s first solo release since last year’s ‘Stay Happy’. CelebMix headed down to the star’s O2 Academy Islington set, check out our review here. Since then, team-ups with the likes of Alan Walker on ‘Ghost’ and OTR on ‘Broken’ have pulled in over 20 million streams on Spotify alone.
With a music video plan for ‘Ideas’ curtailed due to current events, the Ibiza-born songstress has invited fans to help create the video for the single.
