Canadian teen indie pop prodigy AVIV returns with a heartfelt and emotive new single. Titled “You Feel Like Depression, the track is the first of the year from the rising singer/songwriter with her label Photo Finish Records.
In “You Feel Like Depression, AVIV explores the myriad of emotions that occur during a breakup. From “self-guilt, self-blame and an overall feeling of failure. This feeling is amplified when the person with whom you’ve ended the relationship blames you for the breakup,” confides the songwriter. “You Feel Like Depression” begins with sweeping acoustic guitars and delicate vocals that soon culminate into a seductive and hard-hitting chorus, complete with reverb-soaked electric guitars. AVIV has an uncanny ability to write relatable narratives, connecting with her fans on a deep emotional level and “You Feel Like Depression” is a perfect example of this.
AVIV’s latest offering follows the upbeat indie pop jam “Failed English” and the tender “love of your life” released late last year. The Toronto based artist follows in the same footsteps as Lorde and Clairo, crafting captivating musical releases with heart and dedication.
