As we all know the Billboard Music Award nominees have just been announced and our favorite Canadians, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, and Drake, are at the top of the nominee list with 19, 12, and ten nominations respectively.
However, what exactly could this mean for our King of Pop, Justin Bieber? Well, if he manages to take home the award for Top Social Media Artist, a category created in 2011, he will keep his streak as the only artist to ever take home the award. Bieber also has the potential to beat out the highest winning male artist, country pop singer, Garth Brooks, if he surpasses six award wins and America’s sweetheart Taylor Swift if he wins more than eight! But that’s not all! If the 22-year-old pop star can manage to win Top Male Artist as well, he will not only have set three BBMA records but a fourth as well for the only artist to have won the award twice in their career!
Bieber currently holds the record for the youngest male artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well one for being the artist with the most titles -seventeen to be exact – placed on the Hot 100 in a week, beating out The Beatles and Drake.
So let’s all just sit back and watch the King work his magic, shall we?
