This week’s edition of New Music Friday has been straight flames to say the least. Between hot solo debuts from Liam Payne and Camila Cabello, to the latest from Katy Perry, who joined forces with Nicki Minaj on a sassy rumored diss track. But, let’s not overlook the latest from Bebe Rexha, whose fresh record pays homage to the late Whitney Houston and is a glorified bop.

Rexha’s new song ‘The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody) with five-time Grammy winner Lil’ Wayne includes a sample of Houston’s 1987 hit, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me).

“I’m sorry I’m not the most pretty,” the New York native croons. “I’ll never ever sing like Whitney / But I still want to dance with somebody…Don’t matter who you are / Just love me the way I are.

Following her reference to the music icon, Wayne rhymes about Bobby Brown. “I just wanna dance with somebody,” he says. “I could never ever dance like Bobby / You could dance, I’ma watch your body / I just wanna stand right behind you.”

Enlisting the rapper for the single was the perfect addition, as duo’s energy is undeniable, leaving us to think this will be a strong contender for a summer smash. A music video to accompany the track can also be expected in the coming weeks.

The pop sensation recently unveiled to Entertainment Weekly that her and Wayne’s song is only one of a handful of star-studded collaborations to appear on her All Your Fault: Pt. 2 EP due out this summer. Rexha has also had studio time with country twosome Florida Georgia Line and Migos member, Offset.

“I had never written with a country artist before,” she shared about working with FGL. “I go in there with them and we write this incredible record after a long day. I just can’t stop listening to it.”

When asked about the dance-oriented vibes expected from the second installment of All Your Fault, Rexha added “it’s just about having great pop songs with dope beats, doing what I feel and telling my story on each record.”

Part one of All Your Fault was released back in February and includes the hit “I Got You,” along with features from G-Easy and Ty Dolla $ign.
