Ben Haenow Sexual Healing Café Covers 2

Ben Haenow strips back ‘Sexual Healing’ by Marvin Gaye on second ‘Café Covers’ album

Putting his own spin on a timeless classic, Ben Haenow has released an acoustic cover of ‘Sexual Healing’ by Marvin Gaye. The former X Factor winner has certainly done the song justice!

By stripping everything back, Ben has delivered a more vulnerable interpretation of the track and it really is faultless. The platinum selling artist, who is set to become a dad for the first time this year, never fails to impress us with his incredible vocals.

Ben recorded his phenomenal rendition of ‘Sexual Healing’ exclusively for Double J Music’s second ‘Café Covers‘ album. He’s joined on the record by other established singers including: Janet Devlin, Katie Melua, Karen Harding, Nina Nesbitt and Lemar.

Discussing his new cover, Ben Haenow said: “I’ve always loved Marvin Gaye and especially this track, so I really enjoyed working on a stripped back acoustic version for the new ‘Café Covers’ album. The mood on these albums is always a chilled vibe and though the lyrics to ‘Sexual Healing’ are pretty raunchy, I think they lent themselves well to a more vulnerable stripped back version. It’s always an honour to feature on cool compilation albums alongside other great artists. Thanks again to the guys at Double J Music for having me on the cut.

‘Cafè Covers, Vol. 2’ is available on CD and digital here. Following its release, the wonderfully crafted compilation stormed to number one on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart and it is currently number 30 in the Official Album Downloads Chart. The record is certainly proving to be very popular.

Ben Haenow previously contributed to Double J Music’s first ‘Cafè Covers‘ album which was released last year. His stunning rendition of ‘Heart of Glass’ by Blondie featured on the compilation alongside covers by artists such as: Jack Savoretti, Emma Bunton, Cascada and Matt Cardle.

With every release, Ben continues to prove that he’s one of the very best in the industry. As well as having the ability to make any song his own, the Croydon-born singer is a highly-skilled songwriter and his powerful charity single ‘If You’re Lonely‘ touched the hearts of many last year. Ben is currently writing more original material which we can’t wait to hear!
