Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black have celebrated Valentine’s Day with the announcement that they are expecting their first baby together.
The married couple surprised their fans by posting pictures on their Instagram pages of the two of them holding an ultrasound scan. Thousands of celebrities, family members, and fans have congratulated the couple on their amazing news and people have already started taking guesses at what they’ll name the new addition to their family.
A spokesperson for the couple told the Press Association: “Tom and Dustin are thrilled to share that they are expecting their first child in 2018”. Apart from this and the images they uploaded, the couple has yet to reveal any more details on the pregnancy at this moment in time.
Hollywood screenwriter Lance and 23-year-old diver Tom have been together since early 2013 and have previously discussed their desire to have children. In interviews last year, the pair had expressed their strong belief to have their own family and that it would happen sooner than people would expect. The couple, who tied the knot in May 2017 in a stunning castle with friends and family, shared a video of their wedding day to raise money for the LGBT community.
Tom discussed the process of being part of a gay couple and wanting a family: “As a gay couple it is one of the most difficult things to have a child and there are so many different ways you can go about it. It’s a long, expensive process. We’ve done research into loads of different ideas, through adoption or through surrogacy and all that kind of stuff.”
