Britney Spears has announced that she is taking an indefinite work hiatus, meaning that her forthcoming Las Vegas residency Britney: Domination has been put on hold.

The pop superstar took to Instagram to confirm the news, and revealed that she made the decision to step down from her work load following the recent ill health of her father.

Jamie Spears was rushed to hospital two months ago after his colon spontaneously ruptured. He was immediately admitted into surgery and later spent the next 28 days in Sunrise Hospital, Las Vegas under the care of the doctors, nurses and staff who saved his life.

As Jamie continues to recuperate at home, Britney has taken a hiatus in order to support and be with her family at this difficult time.

In a statement, Britney said: “I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family.  We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me.

“Thank you to all my fans for your continued love and support during this time.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and I look forward to the time when I can be back on stage performing for all of you.”

Britney’s Domination residency was due to begin on February 13. Refunds are available from the original point of purchase. Full information regarding refunds can be found here.

Here at CelebMix, we’re sending Britney, Jamie and the Spears family all of our best wishes during this time.
