Platinum-selling artist Bryce Vine has just released his new album, Motel California, and it’s far more than a fleeting detour. After making waves with chart-topping hits like “Drew Barrymore” and “La La Land,” Vine has spent the past few years carving out a distinctive space in pop-rap. Now, he’s shifting gears. Motel California marks his first full-length independent release, and the creative freedom is unmistakably front and center.

Out now, the long-anticipated LP leans into Bryce Vine’s signature West Coast ease, but this time with a deeper sense of ownership and introspection. It’s not so much a concept album as it is a roadside motel, where each track opens the door to a different scene. With pop hooks, hip-hop rhythms, and a streak of indie grit, the album unfolds at its own pace: unfiltered, self-assured, and undeniably his. The result is a melodic collection that feels both sun-soaked and reflective, celebratory yet quietly searching.

Across 11 tracks, Vine invites listeners into a series of sonic rooms where nostalgia, ego, heartbreak, and self-awareness live side by side. The album flows with ease, but never lingers in one lane for too long. On “Lauryn Hill,” featuring Flyana Boss, he taps into his pop-rap roots with a slick, summery bounce that feels made for a windows-down cruise through Los Angeles.

On the flip side, “Rocky Mountain,” a standout collaboration with country-pop artist Brittney Spencer, trades heavy beats for acoustic clarity, delivering a slower, more introspective journey through emotional terrain. Both these songs serve as stylish bookends to the album’s wide range —“Lauryn Hill” glides on funk-tinged grooves and Bryce’s signature laid-back charisma, while “Rocky Mountain” leans into Americana influences blended with vulnerability.

The rest of the tracklist moves freely between breezy anthems, off-kilter pop moments, and thoughtful reflections. “7 Days A Weekend” delivers a sun-drenched escape for those clinging to that summer feeling, while “Jane Fonda,” featuring Mickey Avalon, leans fully into quirky, tongue-in-cheek territory. Then there’s “THE DAYS (This Thing Called Life),” a quieter, more contemplative cut that brings things inward. Tying it all together is Vine’s smooth vocal delivery and sharp sense of melody, giving the project its cohesion without sacrificing its personality.

With Motel California, Bryce Vine isn’t trying to chase trends or reinvent himself; he’s simply making music on his own terms. This album is still packed with the catchy charm that made singles like “Drew Barrymore” and “La La Land” go double platinum, but there’s more edge, more heart, more reflection, and a real sense of ownership this time around. Coming off the heels of his Motel California Tour and a season of personal upheaval, the timing couldn’t be more fitting. Bryce Vine sounds like an artist who’s finally at peace with the journey, and ready to share every messy, melodic mile of it.
