BTS talk Love Yourself: Tear, musical inspirations and more on Beats 1

BTS recently joined Brooke Reese for a Chart Takeover on Beats 1. Not only did they play tracks from Love Yourself: Tear in addition to some of Apple Music’s biggest songs of the moment, but they also made time for an interview.

RM, V, Jungkook, Jimin, Jin, Suga, and J-Hope spoke about everything from their new album to their most surprising celebrity fan. When asked about their musical inspirations, their favourites ranged from Eminem to Charlie Puth whilst they also revealed that coffee, Yankee Candles and doughnuts were among their studio must-haves.

RM also explained the meaning behind Love Yourself: Tear, stating that “Basically our album is a four-part series. It’s about love. This is part three so it’s like a turning point, and we’re saying if you’re not true to yourself, your love won’t last forever.”

Earlier this week, BTS made a welcome return to The Late Late Show with James Corden to perform ‘Fake Love’, taken from Love Yourself: Tear. The track is their most globally successful offering yet, earning them their first Billboard Hot 100 top ten single.

BTS also gained further global success with their album Love Yourself: Tear, which became their first ever number one album on the Billboard 200 charts, whilst also reaching the top ten of the UK albums chart.
