The announcement comes after Banks tweeted that she would like to reunite with the septet while they are in the States for their Love Yourself World Tour. She wrote, “Just heard those fierce boys of @BTS_twt will be in LA next week…so am I. Reunion? #TyTyLovesBTS.”
BTS first caught her attention at this year’s Billboard Music Awards, where the group performed their Billboard Hot 100 hit “Fake Love.” The night after their performance, Banks tweeted that her “heart swelled up with pride every time the crowd at the @BBMAs yelled like crazy for @BTS_twt.”
She continued, “It’s major for so MANY reasons. The world is celebrating 7 beautiful, sexy, talented, and fun-loving Asian men and their fierce, fine talent.”
Since then, AGT judge Howie Mandel also became interested in the boy band, and tweeted his excitement over a potential BTS performance on the show.
We should get #BTSonAGT. Right @BTS_twt fans? https://t.co/JiLmzlY2K7

Ever since BTS was nominated for their first BBMA last year, they have been making headlines for breaking barriers within the music industry. They became the first Korean boy band to perform at prestigious award shows such as the American Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards, and also the first Korean boy band to perform on late night shows Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Late Show with James Corden. Their most notable accomplishments, however, have been achieving a top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 and two No.1 albums on the Billboard 200, a rarity for any artist, let alone a Korean act.
Most recently, they also broke Taylor Swift’s YouTube record for the most views on the platform within 24 hours. According to Billboard, BTS’s “IDOL” music video surpassed 45 million views in its first day of release.
The group’s impressive achievements follow the release of their Love Yourself albums, which tell a story about self-love and acceptance. BTS’s inspiring lyrics have made for their music to be appreciated all over the world. As Banks puts it herself, the group continues to show everyday how “music” as well as “love” is “universal” and transcends any language.
With their upcoming AGT performance, BTS is sure to capture the hearts of American viewers.
BTS will be performing on America’s Got Talent on Wednesday, September 12th, during the show’s second part of the semi-finals.
