Singer-songwriter and former frontman of the popular duo Timeflies CAL has just unleashed his latest irresistible single. It’s called “Roll The Credits” and it is a delicate but vibrant fusion of electronic and pop, for a sing-a-long ready release all about moving on after a toxic end to a romantic relationship.
With “Roll The Credits,” CAL garnered inspiration from his friend’s experience, confiding, “I wrote this song from the perspective of a close friend who was staring down the barrel of a brutal breakup. It’s really easy to hear someone else’s story and give them advice because you don’t have all the baggage and intricacies of a long emotional relationship. But after hearing what I heard all I could say was, you’re just dragging this thing out cuz you don’t know what the end will look like—but from here it’s lookin like it’s already over.” CAL’s new single is a reminder to let go of what doesn’t serve us and to look to our friends to help us get over heartbreak and hard times. Featuring smooth alt R&B infused vocals over a kaleidoscope of electronic backing beats, “Roll The Credits” is a sonically experimental yet cohesive offering. CAL is best known for his winning hooks that encourage repeat listens and “Roll The Credits” is no exception with an infectious and inviting chorus.
CAL found success as being half of the pop-rap duo Timeflies who began releasing music in 2010 and quickly built a dedicated fanbase. Breaking out on his own in 2015, his cathartic commercial pop ready hits garnered the attention of label Photo Finish Records. With more music promised, we can’t wait to hear what is next from this prolific songwriter.
