Cybersmile has announced that Camila Cabello is the worthy recipient of their Cybersmiler of the Month award for speaking out about body shaming.
Camila has a huge platform and regularly uses it to speak out about causes close to her heart and about subjects she knows affects her dedicated fanbase. She recently spoke up about body shaming, something that she was personally subjected to in 2019 by the media.
She has spoke out about the need to normalize unfiltered views of young women’s bodies and to reject unrealistic beauty standards, saying, “The saddest part of young girls growing up in an airbrushed world is they’re seeking a perfection that’s not real.”
Camila took to TikTok to post about the subject, in a video entitled ” I Luv My Body”, which has been viewed over 26 million times.
In the video, she talks about being made to feel insecure and self-conscious after realising she was exposing cellulite on her bare stomach while going for a run. In an inspiring message of support, she went on to tell her fans, “But then I reminded myself being at war with your body is so last season. I am grateful for this body that lets me do what I need to do. We are real women with curves and cellulite and stretch marks and fat. And we gotta own that, baby.”
In being awarded the cybersmiler of the month award camila joins the likes of Selena Gomez, Kristen Bell and John Legend who all use their platforms positively.
