Country-pop artist Casi Joy releases her new single/music video, “Hey Dad,” a track lifted from her recently released debut album, Miles and Maybe.
The title of the album – Miles and Maybes – was inspired by a lyrical phrase from Casi’s single, “Under the Hood.”
Casi explains, “When I got home with the demo, I knew we had something special. [I] immediately knew an album would be centered around it.”
“Hey Dad’s” moving lyrics reveal the delightful relationship and love between father and daughter.
“While you were carrying the world / We both got a little older / But you taught me to share the weight / So put some on my shoulders.”
Casi Joy and her band recently performed the song in a special appearance on WSMV TV’s Today in Nashville, along with “Partners In Time.” Highlighted by Billboard as a ‘Must Hear New Country Track,’ “Partners In Time” showcases Casi’s delicious voice and her gift for composing moving lyrics.
Hailing from Kansas City, Casi appeared on NBC’s hit show The Voice as part of Blake Shelton’s team. Since then, she has performed the National Anthem at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade and signed with the Mint Talent Group, as well as sharing the stage with artists such as Maren Morris, Keith Urban, Carly Pearce, and Dustin Lynch.
“Hey Dad” opens on low-slung tender tones topped by the lusciously expressive voice of Casi, whose velvety timbres display soft, slightly twangy flavors, imbuing the lyrics with warm, loving hues. The mid-tempo rhythm, gentle piano, and gleaming guitars infuse the harmonics with swaying washes of sensitive colors.
The video depicts images of Casi as a child, a teenager, and a young woman via footage shot by her dad, illuminating the intimate depth of their connection with one another.
