If you’re planning a wedding for this year or next, you might decide to turn to celebrities for inspiration.
Below, we’ve put together five of our favourite celebrity weddings to give you some food for thought.
Sure, not all of these weddings will be realistic unless you’re a millionaire, but they can help to inspire your big day and ensure you marry the love of your life as if you were an A-Lister yourself…
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
We’re still fangirling over Meghan Markle’s stunning entrance to Saint George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, wearing a stunning white, minimal custom dress designed by Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy.
All eyes were on Meghan after Kate and Wills married a couple of years prior, and so rather than upstaging Kate or attempting to live up to her fairytale princess day, Meghan created her own style and made the wedding all about her commitment to Harry.
Once the vows were done, she popped off her lace-embroidered veil and switched to a second dress, designed by Stella McCartney for the reception.
A “select” group of Prince Harry and Meghan’s 200 closest friends attended the evening reception, a more intimate affair away from the glitz and glamour of the daytime event – a great idea if you want to make the most of your wedding day and split the event into two distinct parts.
The hardest part will be deciding who you’re going to invite…
Victoria and David Beckham
Can you believe it’s been twenty years since Posh Spice and David Beckham married?!
The pair tied the knot in the 1794 gothic Luttrellstown Castle located just outside of Dublin, a truly breathtaking historical building that’s also hosted Prince Ranier and Princess Grace of Monaco, amongst others.
Neither the bride nor groom is Irish, but they settled on the location for its beauty and because it was far away from their paparazzi-filled lives in London.
The pair reportedly spent around £500,000 on their big day, and with Gary Neville as the best man and all of the other Spice Girls in tow, we’re sure it was one hell of an evening.
If you are considering following in their footsteps, check out this infographic from Claddagh Rings, who outline some Celtic wedding traditions that can elevate your big day and make it one to remember, from the handfasting ceremony through to the oathing stone at the altar.
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian
Tennis powerhouse Serena Williams married the co-founder of social networking website Reddit, Alexis Ohanian, and looked absolutely stunning.
Serena wore three gorgeous looks throughout the day, starting with a bespoke Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress for the main ceremony, followed by a reception entrance dress by Donatella Versace and a third beaded bodice and short, feathered miniskirt dress by Versace for the evening.
The pair married in 2017 and shared their wedding photos with the world, revealing a Beauty and the Beast theme.
If you’re considering hosting a themed wedding, there are so many options to consider, from vintage and bohemian to whimsical and rustic.
Experiment with ideas and get everyone involved, from the groom to your bridesmaids, for the best results.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
We couldn’t round up some of our favourite celebrity weddings without giving a nod to the Queen of reality TV, Kim Kardashian.
She married her rapper boyfriend Kanye West in May 2014, wearing what we think is one of the most memorable wedding dresses of the 2010s: a stunning custom lace mermaid gown, designed by her close friend, Givenchy’s Ricardo Tisci.
Never outshone, the pair didn’t just celebrate with a wedding ceremony and a reception…
They decided to make a weekend out of their wedding, starting with a trip to Paris where Kim and her bridesmaids held a bachelorette party at the Hôtel Costes.
After that, they attended a pre-wedding lunch hosted by Valentino Garavani and then an evening rehearsal dinner with an eye-watering 600 guests.
It all sounds like too much hard work, but when you’ve got millions of dollars in the bank, you can leave everyone else to do the work for you!
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett are Hollywood sweethearts, and the pair this year will celebrate their 22nd wedding anniversary.
They married in The Cloisters in Baltimore, Maryland, reciting their vows at a 1930s castle that was constructed in a combined medieval French and English style.
John Dolan recorded the wedding so the pair can look back on it for the rest of their lives, which is a great way to memorialise your big day and create a keepsake for those who couldn’t attend.
Jada’s celebrity bridesmaids included Carmen Electra and Rebecca Romijn, and with a stunning pink and white rose theme, they all looked a million dollars.
Whether you’re planning a celebrity-inspired wedding with hundreds of guests or a more low-key affair, we wish you the very best of luck – and a long and happy life with your partner.
