Alexi Blue is a 19-year-old stunner who is extremely talented and passionate in her songwriting and performing. She’s been in love with music since she was young, and after convincing her parents to get her a guitar at age 10, she’s set goals for herself and once she met them, she began setting more. Alexi has a large following on social media and after looking at her YouTube channel, it’s easy to see why.

Alexi started off with covers of songs like ‘Lose Yourself’ and ‘Toxic’ but went on to release her own music as well. Most recently, she released Tri Me, a three song EP which will entice you from the first listen. Alexi isn’t just talented vocally and in songwriting – she’s got an incredible head on her shoulders and she wants to inspire and empower other girls through her music.

We got to talk to Alexi about her ‘Solo Ride’ video (and from the time we first watched the video, to now, the views on YouTube more than doubled), what inspires her, and what music is her favorite to sing. She’s making big moves in 2017, you’ll want to know her story.

You just dropped a video for ‘Solo Ride’ and it already has almost 25,000 views on YouTube. How incredible is it to see your music make an impact on your fans?
Yes! The “Solo Ride” video just dropped a couple weeks ago and I’m so pumped about it. I think were getting close to 60,000 views now which is insane because it’s all thanks to my fans. They’ve been the ones posting and sharing it like crazy so I’m very thankful for them and their love. My blue stars are so dedicated, and I love reading tweets and comments about what the video means to them and how they relate the song and the music video storyline to their own lives.

You’ve said you wrote this song about being okay in your own skin. Why is that an important message for you to have in your music, especially when a lot of girls and young women are almost programmed to want to hold themselves to the standards of others?
Being confident in your own skin is so important, and it’s definitely something I write about in my songs. No girls or young women or anyone for that matter should ever feel like they need to hold themselves to the standards of others. I feel it’s so important to understand that you have worth and value and you shouldn’t feel like you need to sacrifice your morals or values because of the opinions of others. I want this generation to know that it’s cool to follow that gut instinct and voice inside you and for me, my songs are a way to express that.

We are loving your ‘Toxic’ Britney Spears cover! Your voice sounds incredible on it. That brings me to my next question, what is your favorite pop song from the 90’s/00’s?
Awh thank you so much. That’s a hard question because my favorite music is 90`s/00s R&B. I listen to it all the time in my car so picking a favorite is hard, but I’m probably gonna go with TLC “Waterfalls” or “No Scrubs”. Such smashes.

Speaking of covers ‘Lose Yourself’, we are speechless. Would you consider adding a hip hop vibe to your own songs?
Stripping down “Lose Yourself” was so dope, I’m really glad you like my take on it. Yes absolutely, I love that vibe. I think my music definitely has R&B influence, especially “Solo Ride” off of my new EP TRI Me and my last singles like “I Don`t Wanna Wait” where you can totally hear 90s R&B vibes and even “Royalty”. I’d classify my music as pop, but definitely with a touch of edge and swag and R&B.

When you get in the car, what is your go-to song right now?
“That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars.

What inspired you to get into music, was it something you wanted to do when you were young or did you get into it as you started to grow older?
I’ve always grown up around music. I think it’s something I was meant to do. Looking back, I was singing Britney Spears and Madonna karaoke before I could even read. Creating music has always been what’s made me the happiest and I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.

What is your favorite part of performing live? What is your favorite song to sing on stage?
Performing live is my absolute favorite. I think the best part is getting to travel and meet my fans face to face. I also love seeing and hearing them sing my lyrics back to me. There is seriously no feeling that compares to it. I love performing my song “180” live… There’s a breakdown of “na-nas” for the bridge and during this part, the whole crowd has their hands up and they’re singing so loud with me and it’s always one of my favorite parts of the set.

If you could give advice to any of your fans, what would it be?
My advice for my fans would be to always stay true to yourself. Follow what you feel in your heart, and don’t change because of the opinions of others. Do what makes you feel the best.

Where can we go to learn more about you, and see what you’ll be up to in 2017?
You can check out my website alexiblue.com. I’m also all over social media… Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook so come say hi! In 2017, I hope to play even more live shows than I did in 2016, and I’ll be creating even more new music. I can’t wait to see what this year holds.

Check out Alexi’s ‘Solo Ride’ video and tweet us to let us know what you think of it. We’re absolutely hooked.
