Eighteen year old performer Libby Whitehouse, from Brighton, has released her new single, titled ‘New Boy.’ The empowering pop anthem is a track which lyrically speaks about someone moving on to someone else, getting a ‘New Boy.’
Following in the musical footsteps of artists such as Dua Lipa and Mabel, ‘New Boy’ is a very catchy and up-tempo track, set to put you in a feel good mood. The track is also extremely well suited to music found in the Charts – we absolutely love it!
“The track is a different vibe to anything I’ve done before. It’s got more of a dance vibe to it and it’s the first song I ever wrote with my producer Chris Priest. It means so much to me and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”
Since first appearing on the music scene a year ago, she has played at various festivals in London, along with released singles such as ‘Cut It Off’ and ‘Hands On Me,’ which have received over a million streams!

What does your new single represent to you?
“My new single represents a fun and energetic way of telling your best friend’s ex he’s no good! It was so much fun writing and even more fun seeing the whole thing come together just the way I wanted it to! I hope others get the same energy when listening to it, it’s a vibe.”
Was there a time when you realised that music was something you wanted to pursue?
“Definitely! I’ve always loved music, whether it be listening to someone else’s, singing covers, singing my own songs or performing myself. I’ve just always had such a passion for music, but I think the one time that made me think ‘wow, this really is exactly what I want to do’ is when I saw Rihanna live at V Festival in 2016. That was probably one of the biggest inspirations for me.”
If you were to sum up your music sound in three words, what would they be and why?
“I would describe my music as vibrant, feel good and powerful (girl power!).”
Who are your musical influences?
“I wouldn’t say I have one musical influence. I always find this question really hard, but in terms of performance, it would be Beyoncé or Tinashe. In terms of writing music, Raye is a big influence and most recently, it’s been Ella Mai. I love the route her music is going down and I would love to do more of that in the future.”
What else can be expected from you in the coming months music-wise?
“Lots actually! There will be a music video for ‘New Boy’ (keep your eyes peeled!) and this single is the first taste of my debut EP, which I’ll have more news about soon! I also have my first ever live show and I will headline The Haunt in Brighton on November 13. It’s going to be a party, so make sure you come down! After that, I’ll be in and out of the studio making more music. There’s lots to do and I’m so excited!”
Finally, do you have a message for your supporters?
“Just a massive thank you for listening to my music. Every nice comment and constructive criticism I receive I listen to and reply to nearly everyone to thank them personally as it does mean so much! Most importantly, if they have any suggestions for new music hit me up, I’d love to know what you guys want to hear as that is who the music is for!”
